Neumarkt and Langen, Germany, 26. February 2007 – At the RAIL.ONE GmbH concrete-sleeper production plant in Langen, Germany, construction work begins today to expand the company’s own factory railway system. Installation of approx. 400 m of track is scheduled for completion around the middle of April. The company will thereby satisfy increasing demand by Deutsche Bahn AG to be able deliver concrete sleepers to track construction sites by the additional means of special rail cars. In this way, it will be possible to deliver approx. 6,000 sleepers per day by rail. Transfer of this volume of transport from roads onto rails will benefit not only roadside residents, but also the environment.
More than 50 staff at the Langen sleeper factory produce around 500,000 main-track sleepers and around 150,000 linear metres of turnout sleepers made of concrete. The main customers are Deutsche Bahn AG, as well as public-transit companies primarily in the German states of Hesse and Baden-Württemberg. For Richard Ziegler, CEO of RAIL.ONE GmbH, the investment for expansion of the company’s site network will ensure the competitive ability of the Langen location. At the same time, the new facilities will also optimize the use of track-renewal trains to deliver the sleepers.
