On 7 October 2003 RAIL.ONE opened a new turnout sleeper factory in Brandenburg-Kirchmoeser, Germany. In addition to the production plants in Neumarkt, Langen near Frankfurt, and Coswig, Brandenburg-Kirchmoeser is the fourth production facility in Germany. For the international markets, RAIL.ONE operates facilities of this kind in Spain, Hungary, and Romania.
Since 1920, the city of Kirchmoeser has been the site of railway facilities and plants for the railway industry. Numerous companies from the railway segment are once again active there, in addition to the Research and Technology Centre of Deutsche Bahn Systemtechnik, and the Railway Environment Center of Deutsche Bahn AG. The German state of Brandenburg, as well as the city of Kirchmoeser, are now promoting the further revitalization of the location: for example, by assignment of a Location Development Agent, systematic regional management, as well as subsidies for extensive modernization of local infrastructure. These favourable basic factors were determining for RAIL.ONE in its decision to build a new turnout sleeper factory in Brandenburg-Kirchmoeser, and to expand its overall production capacity in accordance with increasing demand. Other key motivations for this investment were the logistic benefits of the site, as well as additional synergistic potential through close collaboration with the sleeper factory operated by the company BWG Gesellschaft mbH & Co. KG, already located in Brandenburg-Kirchmoeser.
The RAIL.ONE plant in Brandenburg-Kirchmoeser produces approx. 100,000 linear metres of turnout sleepers annually, in two double pre-tensioning beds. These products are primarily intended for use in special turnouts, and for export.
Production at the plant in Brandenburg-Kirchmoeser is based on the principle of late form removal with immediate bonding of the tendons. The plant operates special double pre-tensioning beds, with lengths of 80 to 100 metres. The forms are generally filled once per day: this is because an advanced degree of concrete hardening is required, owing to the extreme pre-tensioning forces involved. Configuration of the pre-stressing tendons takes place in accordance with individual specifications. Two-shift operations are required, in accordance with the number of production lines. RAIL.ONE has gained specialized know-how and long years of experience in this sophisticated and highly customized process.
For RAIL.ONE, the major strategic significance for the railway-industry location in Brandenburg-Kirchmoeser, lies in the importance of European and international perspectives. The development and expansion of high-performance railway-traffic infrastructure, as well as international high-speed rail networks, will offer appreciable growth and profit potentials during the coming years.

On 7 October 2003, German Minister of Transport Dr. Manfred Stolpe symbolically placed the production line for turnout sleepers into operation.

Collaboration with the neighbouring turnout factory operated by BWG promotes logistic synergy and intensifies production and delivery performance.
