Ballastless track system GETRAC® – Asphalt in top form

The GETRAC® systems offer all the advantages of a ballastless system and are especially fast and uncomplicated in installation. A precondition, however, is highly developed asphalt technology and we at RAIL.ONE are quite proud of our engineering expertise here. The chief characteristic of GETRAC® track systems consists of an asphalt supporting layer on which concrete sleepers directly rest. The sleepers are elastically connected to the asphalt layer by special concrete anchor blocks, which transfer the horizontal forces from the track span to the supporting layer. A major advantage of this product is its fast and simple installation procedure with conventional track-laying technology, and with high daily track-laying output. The GETRAC® A1 system variation has become well known in our segment over the past few years, for its outstanding operational characteristics. The GETRAC® A3 ballastless track system is the newest and highest-performance product in the GETRAC® line. The wide sleepers, an intrinsic part of this system, reduce track installation height: which makes it especially effective for tunnel installations.

In 2004, the German Federal Bureau of Railways (EBA) provided official approvals, without speed limitation, for various track innovations in the form of GETRAC® model variations. This approval accordingly signifies clearance of GETRAC® for high-speed track applications as well.

Exemplary projcts

  • Upgrading old rail tunnels in Mainz 

    In 2009 RAIL.ONE Group won the contract for modernizing old rail tunnels in Mainz, Germany. Over a length of 670 metres, the GETRAC® A3 ballastless track system has been installed as a light mass-spring system for the old tunnel at the Main Station. The Mainz South Tunnel has also been equipped over a length of 230 metres with GETRAC® A3 on an asphalt supporting layer. RAIL.ONE delivered a total of approx. 3,000 GETRAC® A3 wide concrete sleepers for the 900 metres of double track in the two tunnels.

  • Construction of Schlüchtern Tunnel 

    The RAIL.ONE Group has been awarded the contract for delivery of the ballastless track railway for the new Schlüchtern Tunnel and for renovation of the existing tunnel tubes in the east Hessian town of Sinntal, in the Sannerz district. After the Kehre Tunnel (2001), the Heiligenberg Tunnel (2001/02), the Esslingerberg Tunnel (2004) and the Brandleite Tunnel (2005), the Schlüchtern Tunnel is the fifth tunnel in a row to feature the GETRAC® A3 system.

  • Upgrading of the Brandleite Tunnel 

    On behalf of the German Railway (DB), the Brandleite Tunnel near the Thuringian town of Oberhof, which is more than 120 years old, has been converted to tilting train technology. Double-track expansion was also done while increasing the speed of the line. RAIL.ONE has been awarded the contract for delivery of the railway system. Altogether 6.3 Karlsruhe Transport Company kilometres have been built using the GETRAC® A3 ballastless track system.
