RAILONE GmbH is continuing on its growth trajectory and is investing in the construction of a new, state-of-the-art concrete sleeper plant in the Nuremberg harbour area on Triester Straße.
A sleeper storage yard is already in operation on this site. With the new production facility, RAILONE is strengthening its position as one of the leading manufacturers of concrete sleepers for the national and international rail market.
The total area of the site – comprising the storage yard and the future factory premises – covers around 42,000 square metres. Planning for this has already begun.
In future, the new plant is set to produce up to 600,000 concrete sleepers annually for railway lines in Germany and on the international market. The Nuremberg plant is being planned and designed to be the most modern concrete sleeper plant within the PCM RAILONE Group. In addition to state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, the focus is particularly on efficiency, quality, sustainability and future-oriented production processes.
Once the new site becomes operational, the existing plant in Neumarkt will be closed. The Neumarkt plant was built back in 1954, making it RAILONE’s oldest concrete sleeper plant. Its closure marks the end of a significant chapter in the company’s history – whilst, at the same time, the new plant in Nuremberg heralds the start of a new, forward-looking era.
With this investment, RAILONE is demonstrating its long-term commitment to Germany as a production location and laying the foundations for modern and efficient manufacturing in the growing European rail market.
Quote from Verena Zahradnik:
The Neumarkt plant has been synonymous with RAILONE’s success story for decades and has played a key role in shaping our company. This makes it all the more important for us to set a new course with the new site in Nuremberg. With this investment, we are sending a clear signal of our long-term commitment to the German market. In Nuremberg, we are establishing a high-performance, forward-looking site that will ensure a reliable supply of prestressed concrete sleepers to DB AG and our international customers.
