Pfleiderer track systems founds a joint venture in India

Neumarkt, Germany, 5 April 04 - Pfleiderer track systems, one of the leading providers of innovative railtrack systems in Europe, continues to expand its foreign activities. In February of 2004, Pfleiderer track systems founded a joint venture with the company Patil Rail Infrastructure Ltd., part of the Indian Patil Group. The first project of the company Patil-Pfleiderer track systems P.L. will be participation in the construction of the 300-km Jammu - Udhampur - Srinagar rail line, which is planned to go into operation on 15 August 2007 (India's independence anniversary). This new rail line, to be built in the high-altitude Kashmir region, will include numerous tunnels, up to 11 km in length.

Patil Rail Infrastructure Ltd., with home office in Secunderabad, has produced railway sleepers for more than 30 years now. The countries in which the company is active include Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Iraq. With a capacity of 1 million sleepers a year, the Patil Group is the largest producer in India. Furthermore the company provides an extensive portfolio - e. g. engineering, fasteners, or turnouts, etc. - from a single source.
