Pfleiderer track systems at Rail-Tech® Europe 2003

Neumarkt / Utrecht, 1 April 2003 - Cities on the move. In connection
with the presentation of the Pfleiderer track systems the new slogan has
a double meaning: on the one hand for fast urban traffic and, on the
other, for high speed traffic. For both purposes the business division of
Pfleiderer AG, Neumarkt supplies specific versions of the ballastless
track system with which only a few years ago the company set new
standards in track construction for high speed traffic.

With ballastless track a permanent supporting layer made of asphalt or
concrete replaces the traditional ballast bed. This type of track construction
is essential if the track is to meet up to the normal load caused by
modern high speed rail traffic - which is a result of the combination of
speed, train weight and the topography of the line. Ballastless track
combines the functional and safety advantages of a completely stable
track position with the economic benefits because there is virtually no
need for maintenance.
