RAIL.ONE plans a new site in the Rhine-Main area

Due to the termination of the operating lease in Langen, RAIL.ONE was forced to evaluate its future in the Rhine-Main area. However, an important milestone for our future was reached last week, says Verena Moosburger, head of the German Division. RAIL.ONE plans to start the sleeper production in Aschaffenburg at the beginning of 2017. Through the mutual understanding with the local partner to conclude a long-term rental agreement, the company based in Neumarkt will maintain its presence in the strategically important Rhine-Main area and thus consequently pursues the company’s new strategic direction. In addition to the optimal railway infrastructure, the location in Aschaffenburg also offers all other conditions that are important for the production of first-class concrete sleepers.

The turnout sleeper production, also located in Langen, is to be integrated into the existing sites in Coswig (Saxony) and Kirchmöser (Brandenburg). Therefore, important know-how on existing locations will be combined with turnout sleeper production. In the future, the new site in Aschaffenburg shall be the logistic center for sleeper delivery in the west of Germany – the regional availability plays here a key role. For us it is important to be present in the region – also in the future. The increasing customers’ demand for an extremely high quality product can be satisfied by the availability of the first-class resources in the Rhine-Main area, notes Verena Moosburger, head of the German division. After the city of Langen has decided to no longer approve industrial production on the present site as well as in any other commercial area, we searched for a suitable area – not an easy task. That is why we are pleased to have found a long-term and future-compliant location with the area in the port of Aschaffenburg, says Jochen Riepl, Chief Executive Officer of RAIL.ONE GmbH. The completion of the storage yard and therefore also the delivery ability is already planned for autumn 2016; the relocation of the production facilities to Aschaffenburg, Coswig and Kirchmöser is scheduled at the turn of the year 2016/2017.
