State Secretary Hans Spitzner and Mayor Thomas Thumann visit RAIL.ONE

Neumarkt, Germany, 17 November 2006 – The management of the RAIL.ONE Group had the honour today of welcoming German State Secretary Hans Spitzner, Member of the State Parliament, in his function as representative of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economics, Infrastructure, Transportation, and Technology, in a visit to the home office of RAIL.ONE in Neumarkt. The Mayor of Neumarkt, Thomas Thumann, was also a guest at RAIL.ONE upon this occasion. In addition to an extensive exchange of opinion on current issues of corporate development, and on regional and international competitiveness and economic policy, the agenda for the visit also included an onsite tour of the production floors of the RAIL.ONE Group.

Since April of this year, the company has no longer been part of the Pfleiderer Group, but has been active as an autonomous company with the name RAIL.ONE, as internationally leading provider of concrete railway sleepers and track systems. The new owners of the company, AXA Private Equity, are supporting RAIL.ONE in expansion of its market positions in the dynamic growth markets for railway traffic. Examples of locations here are in Eastern, Southeastern, and Southern Europe, as well as Asia: regions in which the company is pursuing major opportunities for business success, especially with its patented ballastless track technology for high-speed rail lines.

Despite all these international activities and growth perspectives, however, RAIL.ONE continues to feel a strong connection to its home in the Upper Palatinate area of Bavaria, and with the local region of Neumarkt, as the corporate and administrative headquarters of the company. Of the total of 800 employees of RAIL.ONE around the world, 120 manage its national and international activities from Neumarkt. They also carry out research and development projects and promote quality assurance, as well as ensure effective corporate management and administration. At present, 17 trainees are being qualified at the Neumarkt offices, in collaboration with the company Pfleiderer AG and the former affiliate company Europoles.

As a company with its roots in the region, RAIL.ONE takes for granted as part of its corporate responsibilities the active cultivation of contacts with the politics, economy, and society of its immediate surroundings. As a result, RAIL.ONE regularly extends invitations to visit its company facilities in Neumarkt, in order to provide detailed explanations on a personal scope of its products, the benefits of their application, as well as the company’s strategic corporate goals.
